Chaukidanda Samaj is a social, educational, and service-oriented organization that has been working continuously for the past 28 years, guided by the core values of unity, education, and social responsibility. Established in 2054 B.S. (1997 A.D.) and officially registered at the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, the organization was born out of the social needs of the Chaukidanda region. Limited access to education, economic hardship, lack of organized social structures, and the growing emotional distance among people compelled to live away from their village inspired the formation of this institution. Although founded away from its birthplace, the strong belief in maintaining an emotional and moral connection with the village shaped Chaukidanda Samaj as a shared platform for collective action.
Since its establishment, Chaukidanda Samaj has considered education as the soul of society. Providing scholarships to financially disadvantaged yet hardworking students, supporting educational institutions with academic and sports materials, and motivating young learners toward a better future have remained the organization’s core activities. The organization firmly believes that education is not merely a means of employment, but the foundation for developing wisdom, ethics, and humanity. Many students who continued their education with the support of the society are now well-established in various professions, services, and businesses, serving as living examples of the long-term impact of investing in education.
Another fundamental pillar of Chaukidanda Samaj is unity and harmony. Despite increasing time and geographical distances, the organization has ensured that emotional bonds among Chaukidanda residents remain strong. By connecting members living both within the country and abroad through a shared sense of belonging, the society continues to foster cooperation, mutual support, and trust. The organization has a strong history of resolving social challenges through institutional dialogue and collective understanding. This is why Chaukidanda Samaj continues to move forward as a trusted, inclusive, and conflict-free community organization.
The visionary thinking, selfless dedication, and disciplined leadership of founding president Surendra Adhikari provided a clear direction to the organization. Despite limited resources, his historic contribution in establishing governance frameworks, defining objectives, and initiating priority programs laid a strong foundation for sustainability. The leadership journey-from Deepak Bahadur Adhikari, Dan Bahadur Adhikari, Keshab Adhikari, Mahendra Adhikari to the current president Jitendra Rai-has preserved the organization’s core values while refining them according to changing times. The tradition of consensus-based leadership without elections reflects the deep trust and positive collective mindset within the organization.
At present, Chaukidanda Samaj is focused on organizational strengthening, transparency, and long-term planning. Efforts are underway to increase youth participation, utilize technology to systematize institutional operations, and make programs more result-oriented. Looking ahead, expanding scholarship programs, establishing educational and social funds, launching skill-based and youth-focused initiatives, and implementing long-term social development projects remain key priorities. Chaukidanda Samaj is not merely a memory of the past-it is a responsibility of the present and a hope for the future, moving forward with the belief that it will continue to symbolize unity, education, and service for generations to come.
